Often referred to as “Queen of the Mermaids," Hannah Fraser, professionally known as Hannah Mermaid, is the preeminent and most sought-after underwater performance artist working in the world today. Over the course of her professional career, she has built her own unique brand and showcased her artistry internationally. In addition, she is a professional model, spokesperson and ocean conservationist.
Fraser has performed in films, television shows, music videos, photo campaigns and at music festivals around the world. She has danced with sharks, whales, dolphins, seals, turtles, and rays in the open ocean, while working with some of the top photographers and videographers capturing breathtaking imagery of human and animal encounters that look like Renaissance paintings and cinematic high-gloss art films. She can hold her breath for up to four minutes at a time and free dive to depths of over 50 feet on a single breath of air. In addition, she broke records as the first person to dance with tiger sharks on the ocean floor with no scuba or snorkel gear.
Fraser has worked for a diverse group of companies including Disney, Cirque Du Soliel, Atlantis Resort-Bahamas, Omega Watches, Village Roadshow, Siam Ocean World, Fashion TV, Billabong, Skyy Vodka and many more. She has the experience and easy-going personality to work with any team and rise to the challenge of any project. A few of her career highlights include being the living logo for Atlantis Bahamas, performing in the largest aquarium in the world in the Dubai Mall, and as an aerial mermaid act for DJ Flume at the Burning Man festival. She also appeared as the "Mermaid Queen" in two feature films, 'A Mermaid's Tale' and 'Scales,’ and choreographed the underwater 'DIOR' commercial starring Jennifer Lawrence.
She is also widely known for her work as a conservationist of our oceans and its inhabitants. She spreads her message through speaking events, environmental actions and via film and television. She was featured as part of an activist group in the 2009 Oscar-winning documentary film 'The Cove' which analyzed and questioned dolphin hunting practices in Japan. The film is a call to action to halt mass dolphin kills, change Japanese fishing practices, and to inform and educate the public about the risks and increasing hazards of mercury poisoning from dolphin meat. In 2013, Fraser released a short film entitled 'Mantas Last Dance' that propelled manta rays into the public eye and helped pass laws to protect mantas worldwide.
Fraser has been featured on many television and media outlets, including 20/20, The Today Show, A Current Affair, ABC World News, BBC News, Nightline, 9News Australia, Good Morning America, Entertainment Tonight and many more.
